Lesson Breakup

Every lesson follows the same pattern:
 

       Introduce today’s theme & discuss/explain

• In this section we grab the students’ attention as we activate their prior knowledge. Ask students about what they think this theme means, involves, as well as what they think.

• Explain the main idea/concept so that students are better prepared for the reading section of the class.
  
  Grammar focus of the day

• Introduce the grammar point that will be taught today. Give plenty of examples

• Have students answer questions and make sure it is well understood.

• They will practice individually later during the writing section of the lesson.
  
  Read passage (printouts + pop-corn reading)

• Read the short passage selected with the students.

• Have students read aloud and provide on-the-spot feedback on pronunciation when required.

• Explain some parts, act, change your voice… Make it interesting and easy to understand. This is the FUN part
  
  Discuss how the theme is used, answer questions

• Have the students share their opinion on how the theme was used/presented in the excerpt read.

• Have students answer the questions on paper as well.
  
  Use the grammar point taught in the creative writing task

• In this portion, students will have to demonstrate their mastery of the grammar point learned earlier through a writing task.

• Sometimes it will be a creative task, sometimes they will have to answer a critical thinking question.
